Zimbabwe, no way?

Traditionally Zimbabwe has been the place to go to view Victoria Falls as you can see more than from the Zambian side. However the current political situation within Zimbabwe means that most people now give it a wide berth.

The Victoria Falls Bridge, where the bungee jumping takes place, is actually in no mans land between the two countries. We would have loved to have been able to carry on over the bridge into Zimbabwe to see the falls from the other side. It's possible to cross the border but doing so, even for a few hours, means that you loose your Zambian visa. This plus the cost of a Zimbabwe visa and the park entry fees meant that it wasn't worth the hassle.

However we've still been able to sample some of the lunacy that occurs over the boarder. Thanks to Mr Mugabe's handling of the Zimbabwe economy inflation has been over the 1300% mark. By the way, that's not a typo! This has lead to financial chaos which resulted in some very strange bank notes entering circulation. We managed to get our hands on a Zimbabwian 10 billion dollar note ($10,000,000,000) which we bought for the equivalent of about £2.
